Last Update(Jul 2022)
I'm a Disabled Veteran to the fullest extent these days. I'm just counting the days until the next doctor's appointment. I'm hotel hopping until I can find a permanent place. Working on this website is a new focus and necessary distraction from the hurry-up-and-wait after each mountain of paperwork. I hope to start school again soon. These aren't the best of days, but I have also never felt more optimistic.
BIO(Jul 2021)
Howdies
I'm Dario Avalos, an artist, musician, disabled veteran, Texan, and for the past 10 years I've done graphic design work in heart of West Texas. I've worked with hundreds of companies and individuals to create, redesigned, and digitize their logos for shirts, stickers, banners and more. There was nothing I loved more than playing guitar while singing sad songs and working on personal art pieces. I work primarily in Acrylic paints, but I'm continuing to explore other physical and digital mediums. My current focus is resin cast figures of my character Junk The Dragon.
Bio(Circa 2012)
I'm an artist. Like that really means anything.
I live in West Texas and I'm currently a graphic design student, but it feels too much like cold, heartless pursuit of a job. Painting is honestly something I never thought I'd enjoy. As a child I was in love with the simple beauty of pencil and paper, but a lifetime of moving from place to place left me with little to hang on to and share.
My senior year of high school focused primarily on painting in acrylic and oil paints, but it wasn't until my life in the Navy that I began to work with acrylics on my own. I created works sporadically, but still have yet to see a style emerge from my work.
I continue to paint and explore various techniques and styles while pursuing what it means to be an artist. I am an advocate of the Zeitgeist Movement and often have no intentions of selling my paintings, but I feel it is important to share my work. I've given away a large portion of my work, but that often leaves me with a lack of funds and materials to create more. I don't mind painting for friends and family, but I prefer to create a painting for my shear enjoyment, then find someone who sees something in it that speaks to them. I love to hear people's thoughts on my work even if it has nothing to do with my own intentions. Art is everywhere and I just want to take up some space with my own.
